    05 Oct 26

The Malaysia–Central Asia Higher Education Forum was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Berdinazar Hashyrov, an employee of the Ministry of Education, took part in it on behalf of Turkmenistan. According to him, the many years of cooperation between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University and the «PETRONAS» University of Technology (UTP) is a particularly illustrative example of interaction between the universities of the two countries. As reported, within the framework of the cooperation between the two universities, joint curricula in geology, oil and gas engineering, chemical technology and energy are being successfully implemented. Malaysian professors and international experts frequently come to Ashgabat, where they organize specialized courses for Turkmen students. As noted by the representative of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the cooperation between higher education institutions covers not only student educational programs but also the training of highly qualified specialists for strategically important sectors of the economy. He also recalled that relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia in the fields of science and education rest on a solid treaty and legal framework. Its basis is formed by agreements concluded within the framework of high-level meetings and sessions of joint intergovernmental groups. In recent years, agreements on academic mobility and exchange of experience have been signed between leading universities of Turkmenistan and universities of Malaysia that hold high positions in world rankings, in particular the University of Malaya and Universiti Tenaga Nasional. It was also reported that the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan cooperate with prestigious scientific centers and research institutes of Malaysia, such as CRUX. The parties are currently working on improving curricula in the fields of marketing, logistics, the digital economy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The main goals of the forum were stated to be adapting Malaysia's higher education system to the higher education systems of Central Asian countries, developing international cooperation between the parties in the field of higher education, and introducing participants to Malaysian universities.
