    10 Sep 26

On September 9, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan Luc Pierre Devin, who presented his credentials to Arkadagly Hero-Serdar. Expressing deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for taking the time to meet, the diplomat noted that it is a great honor for him to represent the European Union in Turkmenistan, which implements a peaceful foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality. Taking the opportunity, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov from the President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Conveying his best wishes to the leadership of the European Union, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov warmly congratulated Luc Pierre Devin on his appointment to this high diplomatic post and wished him great success in fulfilling his responsible mission aimed at the further development of relations between our country and the European Union. It was noted, that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with the European Union, which is one of its key international partners. At the same time, it was emphasized that in recent years, bilateral cooperation—built on mutual respect, trust, and consideration of common interests — has taken on a multifaceted character. During the meeting, the parties noted that Turkmenistan places immense importance on the further development of political dialogue with the European Union and the intensification of exchanges of views on pressing issues of mutual interest on the international and regional agendas. The trade and economic sphere was named one of the key vectors of interaction. In this context, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar noted the significant opportunities available for increasing trade volume, expanding business contacts with companies from European countries, and implementing new investment projects. Along with this, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan pays great attention to cooperation in areas such as energy, transport and logistics, industry, agriculture, digital technologies, and environmental protection. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of boosting the partnership between Turkmenistan and the European Union in the transport and communications sector. In this regard, it was noted that realizing the potential of routes leading across the Caspian Sea to European markets and the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor aligns with mutual interests. Furthermore, it was stated that great opportunities exist for deepening energy cooperation, including areas such as the development of renewable energy sources and the transition to a «green» economy. The cultural and humanitarian sphere serves as an integral component of this interaction. In this connection, it was highlighted that contacts in education, science, and culture serve to strengthen mutual trust. Reiterating his gratitude to the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the time taken for the meeting, the diplomat assured Arkadagly Hero-Serdar that he would make every effort to further enhance friendly relations between the European Union and Turkmenistan.
