    Prospects of energy development to be discussed ahead of the XXXI international conference and exhibition «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan — 2026»

    On the eve of the XXXI International Conference and Exhibition «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan — 2026», on October 20, 2026, a high-level round table of the United Nations will take place. This high-level roundtable titled «Reliable, affordable and sustainable energy: advancing SDG 7 through international cooperation» will examine the role of reliable, affordable and sustainable energy in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 7 while supporting economic development, regional cooperation and environmental sustainability. Discussions will focus on the contribution of natural gas, methane emissions reduction, energy efficiency, digital technologies and international collaboration in delivering a balanced and sustainable energy future. The round table will feature speeches by the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Xiaojun Grace Wang, Deputy Chairman of the State concern «Türkmennebit» Myrat Archayev, Climate Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Magtymguly Akmyradov, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan, Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, Ambassador William Leaf, and Economist at the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Vladimir Valetka.
