    Ashgabat discusses Turkmenistan-Afghanistan cooperation in the oil and gas sector

    A meeting was held in Ashgabat between a delegation of the leadership of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, at whose official invitation the Afghan delegation visited the Turkmen capital. Among the areas of cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries, ACCI Deputy for Provincial Affairs Faiz Ahmad Hawafi placed the oil and gas industry and energy sector first. Faiz Ahmad Hawafi took part in an official meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, where he addressed representatives of the chamber, Turkmen traders, industrialists and investors. The purpose of the visit was named as expanding trade and economic ties and strengthening regional cooperation between the two countries. Speaking about the historical friendly and economic ties between the two countries, Faiz Ahmad Hawafi emphasized that trade relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan should go beyond ordinary buying and selling and move toward joint investments, the establishment of joint ventures, the conclusion of long-term contracts, and the implementation of practical economic projects. In addition to the oil and gas industry and energy, among the key areas of cooperation he named industry, the mining sector, agriculture, transport, railways, transit, logistics, and warehousing. During the meeting, Faiz Ahmad Hawafi officially invited 100 Turkmen traders, industrialists, and investors to visit Afghanistan as part of an economic delegation and to personally familiarize themselves with the country's investment opportunities. Concluding his remarks, he noted the need to expand direct business contacts between companies of the two countries, exchange trade delegations, and provide practical support for joint projects.
