The new "Turkmenbashi — Garabogaz — Kazakhstan Border" highway under construction in the Balkan velayat is designed to handle a capacity of up to 14,000 vehicles per day and 580 units of transport per hour, the newspaper Türkmenistan reported on Thursday.
Construction is being carried out by the business company Altyn Nesil, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The total length of the highway will be approximately 250 kilometers, with completion scheduled for 2028.
The road's infrastructure includes eight bus stops, a number of fuel stations, and public amenities. The carriageway will be divided by concrete barrier structures, with protective guardrails installed on both sides of the road that do not obstruct traffic flow.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the highway took place at the end of last year with the participation of Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
