EDB: Major Turkish Investments in Turkmenistan Exceed $1.1 Billion

    16 Feb 26

Major investments from Türkiye in Turkmenistan exceeded $1.1 billion by early 2026, making the country the leading destination for Turkish capital in Central Asia, Trend reported Monday, citing the Eurasian Development Bank.

According to the EDB, the total volume of major Turkish investments across Central Asia topped $3.8 billion as of early 2026. Most of the funds have been directed toward energy infrastructure, construction, and manufacturing. Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan remain Türkiye’s key partners in the region.

Priority projects include the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line linking Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, airport modernization projects in Almaty and Turkestan, and large-scale initiatives in the textile and manufacturing sectors.

The EDB said major projects in Turkmenistan are typically implemented on an intergovernmental basis, helping ensure the stability of strategically important infrastructure programs.

The bank added that Turkish companies’ experience in construction, industry, power generation, and infrastructure, combined with rising electricity demand and the implementation of large-scale infrastructure programs, continues to create favorable conditions for attracting capital.

The Eurasian Development Bank is a multilateral institution established in 2006 to strengthen economic ties and support sustainable development across the Eurasian region.
