On January 30, 2026, a video conference meeting was held between Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms.

During the meeting, the sides noted the dynamic development of trade and economic relations, reflecting the high level of bilateral dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The interlocutors emphasized that the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the Turkmen-German Business Forum during his working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany in September 2023 served as a powerful impetus for the intensification of bilateral trade and economic ties.

Along with this, the importance of the bilateral meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz within the framework of the “Central Asia-Germany” dialogue, as well as negotiations with representatives of German business circles, which took place in September 2024 in Astana, was noted.

Noting the regularity of cross Days of Economies, business forums, and economic exhibitions, the sides particularly emphasized the role of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group and the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, whose activities contribute to the expansion of practical intergovernmental cooperation.
