UAE Aims to Double Trade With Turkmenistan

    02 Dec 25

The United Arab Emirates plans to double its trade volume with Turkmenistan, UAE Ambassador Ahmed Alhai Hamad Khamis Al-Hammeli said in an interview with Neutral Turkmenistan on the occasion of the country’s 54th anniversary.

In 2024, trade between the two countries reached $1.759 billion, excluding oil, a 75% increase compared with 2023. In the first nine months of 2025, the UAE ranked as Turkmenistan’s third-largest trading partner.

This year, the embassy focused on strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the energy sector, the ambassador said.

Bilateral relations are actively developing. In May, a production-sharing agreement for the development of gas fields in Block 1 of the Caspian Sea was signed between XRG, the investment arm of ADNOC, and Petronas, together with Turkmen state companies Hazarnebit and Türkmennebit. A long-term gas sales agreement was also concluded between XRG, Petronas, and the Turkmen state concern Türkmengaz.

In the transport sector, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Etihad Railway and Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan.
