Turkmenistan adopts Russia's experience in energy efficiency and the phase-out of hydrofluorocarbons

    23 Jun 25

A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in the conference ‘Energy efficiency of refrigeration systems in light of the phase-out of hydrofluorocarbons’, which was held on June 18 in Mytishchi, Moscow Region, at the scientific and educational center ‘CryoFrost Academy’. The event was dedicated to the implementation of the provisions of the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment to it.

The Turkmen delegation included representatives of the ministries of energy, trade and foreign economic relations, industry and architecture, the Main State Service ‘Turkmenstandartlary’, the State Concern ‘Turkmenhimiya’, the State Customs Service, and the International University of Oil and Gas named after Y. Kakayev. The private sector was represented by companies specializing in servicing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, such as CE ‘Sahra’, ‘Salkyn Otag’, ‘Beyiklik’, ‘Dashly Minara’, ‘Beko’, ‘Hova Ussasi’ and ‘Abrayly Maksat’.

The conference discussed legislative, regulatory and informational-analytical documents necessary for the phase-out of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Experts from Russia and Belarus shared their experience in this area, and the possibilities for cooperation between the countries in the refrigeration market were considered.

The conference heard reports from Russian and Belarusian experts on the creation of minimum energy efficiency standards for refrigeration systems using natural refrigerants that are safe for the climate and ozone layer of the planet. UNIDO experts presented best practices and proposals for the phase-out of HFCs and climate conservation.

The conference was the final stage of several days of familiarization tours and practical training. Representatives from Turkmenistan visited production facilities and trading platforms that use environmentally friendly refrigerants and were trained in their safe handling. All participants received the relevant certificates.
