    UN round table launched the dialogue on "green" energy at TESC 2025

    On the eve of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Environmental Aspects of Implementing Innovative Technologies in the Development of Hydrocarbon Fields" (TESC 2025), which begins on June 5, a "round table" was held in Ashgabat, organized jointly with the United Nations. The meeting was dedicated to supporting policy making and national capacity towards "green" energy transition in Turkmenistan.

    Representatives of international organizations, government bodies, and the expert community took part in the dialogue. The issues of forming and implementing policies in the field of "green" energy were discussed. The round table was moderated by Dmitry Shlapachenko, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.

    The vision of UNICEF on green energy issues was shared by Jalpa Ratna, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan. The position of UNDP regarding the development of national capacity was presented by Tomica Paovic, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative.

    National approaches to climate policy were presented in a report by Magtymguly Akmyradov, Climate Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Muhammetberdi Byashiev, Head of the Environmental Protection Department of the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern "Turkmengaz," gave a detailed account of the results of "Turkmengaz" cooperation in reducing methane emissions. The discussion also included the participation of SDG Ambassador Gurbangul Sapargeldieva, representing the youth of the country.

    The "question and answer" session was especially constructive, during which participants exchanged opinions and made business proposals for the development of cooperation.
