Iran’s Imports from Turkmenistan Up 22.9%

    27 May 25

Iran significantly increased its imports from Turkmenistan during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21–April 20, 2025), according to data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Imports from Turkmenistan rose by 22.9% in value and nearly doubled (up 98%) in weight compared to the same period last year (March 20–April 19, 2024).

In total, Iran imported 679 metric tons of goods worth $496,000 from Turkmenistan during the period, up from 343 tons valued at $404,000 in the previous year. The imported items included petroleum coke, cotton, fabrics and other goods.

IRICA also reported that the non-oil trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan totaled around 105,000 tons valued at $27.4 million for the month, marking a 3% increase in value and a 2.5% increase in volume year-over-year.

Iran imported 1.8 million tons of non-oil goods worth $2.85 billion during the month. This reflected a 2.3% rise in value and a 26.4% decline in weight compared to the same period last year.
