Turkmenistan Proposes Committee for Oil, Gas, Chemical Cooperation With UAE

    16 May 25

National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has proposed establishing an Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical Sectors with the United Arab Emirates, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

The initiative was announced Wednesday in Ashgabat during talks with a delegation from the United Arab Emirates that included Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, minister of industry and advanced technology and chief executive of the national oil company ADNOC; Suhail Al Mazrouei, minister of energy and infrastructure; and Ahmed Al Sayegh, state minister at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties emphasized the strategic nature of Turkmen-UAE relations and expressed interest in further expanding their cooperation.

The discussion focused on strengthening partnerships in energy, transportation, industry, and high technology. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan and the UAE share similar positions on key international issues, laying the foundation for close cooperation within the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other international bodies.

In the afternoon, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a separate meeting with leaders of the Malaysian company Petronas — Chairman Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Executive Vice President Mohd Juqris Abdul Wahab, and Vice President of International Assets Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman.
