The State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates discussed ways to strengthen economic and investment cooperation, as reported the UAE Embassy in Ashgabat on Monday.

The talks took place during a meeting between Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Ahmed Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

The bank acts as the Turkmen government’s agent on international capital markets, securing medium- and long-term foreign loans to finance key investment projects. It also represents Turkmenistan as the Office of the Governor at the Islamic Development Bank.

The UK-based magazine The Banker, published by the Financial Times, has named the bank Turkmenistan’s Best Bank for the 15th time.
