    Officials Discuss First EU-Central Asia Summit Preparations in Ashgabat

    The foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan met on March 26, 2025, in Ashgabat to discuss preparations for the upcoming European Union–Central Asia summit, scheduled to take place in Samarkand, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During their negotiations, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bahtiyor Saidov addressed issues of bilateral cooperation, including political and diplomatic interaction, trade and economic partnerships, and cultural and humanitarian ties. They paid particular attention to cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and the European Union. The ministers noted the high level of interstate dialogue achieved through the political will of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
