Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Meets With High-Ranking Representatives of Türkiye

    20 Mar 25

National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held separate meetings Wednesday with high-ranking representatives of Türkiye, including Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Botaş General Director Abdulvahit Fidan, Rönesans Holding Chairman Erman Ilıcak, and Çalık Holding Board Chairman Ahmet Çalık.

During the meetings, which took place as part of the International Conference International Year of Peace and Trust, participants discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation, including the development of the energy sector and construction projects in Turkmenistan, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Türkiye, particularly in the energy sector and highlighted ongoing cooperation in transporting Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye via Iran under a SWAP agreement. The national Leader of the Turkmen People also underscored prospects for expanding electricity exports, including via the Caspian Sea, with the construction of a new power plant on Turkmenistan’s coast. This project is expected to create new export opportunities for Türkiye and neighboring countries. Berdimuhamedov expressed Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider new proposals from the Turkish side.

The meetings also covered the achievements of Turkish companies in construction and infrastructure, as well as the successful implementation of projects in healthcare and energy. These efforts contribute to the modernization and improvement of living standards in Turkmenistan.

At the conclusion of the discussions, participants expressed confidence in the continued success of bilateral cooperation, which is expected to further strengthen relations between the two nations.
