Meeting with the UNFPA Country Director for Turkmenistan

On March 25, 2025, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Country Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Turkmenistan Ms.Chinwe Ogbonna. At the beginning of the conversation, having congratulated the guest on her appointment as UNFPA Country Director for Turkmenistan, R. Meredov wished the diplomat success and new achievements in her mission aimed at developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and this international structure. During the meeting, the diplomats noted the high level of collaboration and agreed on further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNFPA. In this context, the constructiveness of joint actions within the framework of the comprehensive implementation of the UNFPA Country Programme for Turkmenistan for the period 2021-2025 was emphasized. Cooperation on improving reproductive and maternal healthcare, gender equality, demography, and promoting healthy social and gender norms among young population were highlighted as key areas of bilateral interaction. At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed mutual interest in further developing the partnership.
