Turkmenistan and Iran Discuss Building Trade Hub on Shared Border

    08 Mar 25

Government agencies of Turkmenistan and Iran met on Wednesday at the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization to discuss the construction of a trade hub on the Turkmen-Iranian border.

The participants reviewed key aspects of the project, including organizational matters and implementation strategies, as reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Iran.

Both sides emphasized that the trade hub would boost cross-border trade and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Representatives from both nations stated that the project would enhance cooperation within the Economic Cooperation Organization region and expand bilateral economic relations.

In February, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss building a highway from the Iranian border to the city of Gumdag.
