President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday signed a decree appointing Ilyas Akmuhammedovich Gayypov as the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.

Gayypov also holds the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On January 7, 2025, the diplomat presented his credentials to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the meeting, the importance of strengthening bilateral interaction and the role of high-level mutual visits in developing relations between Turkmenistan and Iran were noted.
