Gaurish Wagle

Gaurish is an Architect-Urban Designer, graduated as an architect from Goa University, India in 1995 and completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Design from CEPT University, India in 1997. Wagle has over 25 years of experience working on prestigious projects such as Abu Dhabi Western Corniche Development, Reem Island Development, Lusail Development, Bahrain Investment Wharf, Dubai Waterfront and Palm Jebel Ali before joining Masdar City in 2008. Wagle has been spearheading the Masdar City Masterplan development lifecycle – sustainable design, development, and implementation over the past 15 years. He currently heads the Sustainable Design and Master planning for Masdar City as the overarching function head for Master planning, Transportation, Landscape, Sustainability and GIS for Masdar City. He also leads the Masdar City Sustainability Strategy and the Masdar City Development Review process for Master Developers approvals for all plot developments and projects in Masdar City. Wagle has also been instrumental in the implementing the Masdar City Sustainability Strategy from 2015 aligning it with Abu Dhabi’s Sustainability Programs - Estidama Community Rating System (PCRS), Estidama Public Realm Rating System (PRRS) and Estidama Building Rating System (PBRS). Under his stewardship, Masdar City developed the first Sitewide Estidama PCRS Strategy in Abu Dhabi; obtained the first PRRS ‘Exemplar’ Rating for the Central Park project. Recently, Masdar City achieved the first LEED ‘Platinum’ Community Rating under USGBC’s LEED Cities & Communities program in 2025, the first project in Abu Dhabi, UAE to achieve this highest rating. He has also led Masdar City’s contribution and support for UAE’s journey to net-zero by 2050. He also represents Masdar City as a stakeholder on different initiatives by the Government of Abu Dhabi, to name a few: Capital Plan 2030 by Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, Task Force by Etihad Rail, Unified Standards by Abu Dhabi Quality & Conformity Council, LEZ Program by Department of Transport, Digital Data Management Standards by Abu Dhabi Digital Authority and Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group by Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi. He is also invited as a speaker and guest lectures at various forums and seminars on Sustainable and Smart City Planning.
